The Book Cliffs

We had a wonderful time at the Bookcliffs. We had truck problems, and more. We will have to get a new truck or a new engine. We planed on leaving at 7:00 in the morning on Thursday but didn't leave till 11:00. Once we were on the road we stopped at wells to get something to eat then 5 minutes down the road we got a flat tire. Once that was fixed we were on the road again. When we got to the bottom of the canyon, dad lost oil in his truck. Quinn and crystal went back to green river and got oil. At 5:00 we got to the top. The hikers (Heidi, Crystal, Grandpa Bratt, David ,and a friend Joe) left at 5:30 for the 9 mile hike, it started getting dark and we lost the trail couldn’t see. Luckily grandpa had his duffel bag with his sleeping bag in it and we found this cool well as Joe calls it a bat cave! 10 minuets later when we got settled in our "bat cave" the horses arrived and thought we were weird to be sleeping under the ledge. Once we put the sleeping bag away we were on the trail again. We finally got to the cabin around 11:30 and went to bed. The next morning we cleaned up and got water for us (we have to hike a mile to get it from a fresh spring). So we went on hikes, played in the water and more. Grandpa entertained us with his songs and dad's friend left his guitar up there so we also sang along with that. Dad made his famous award winning "cowboy stew" for lunch and then we also had it for dinner it was so good. On Saturday Dad, Brittany, Micheala, Quinn, Grandpa went on a ride, while the other just relaxed took naps. On Sunday we don’t ride horses it’s just a different day. Quinn persuaded dad to ride Tucker with his hobbles. That wasn’t a good idea. He started to go fast and dad fell off. there is a picture of him with him on the ground and his eyes closed, becaus grandpa told him to do that and dad asked why he was doing that and he told him that that's how he will feel when he is in the casket! Later we were having our devotional and dad was telling us why we don’t ride horses so we will have moor blessings, it was ironic that we don’t ride horses and that's why dad got hurt! It was funny. Monday morning we packed up and the hikers left at 9:00. It took us a little longer than the horses but we got to the trucks at the same time as the horses. They left around 11 and got to the trucks at 2 or 3. We got on the road to the high way 13 miles out of green river we lost oil pressure and all of the oil went out of the truck. So we coasted on the side of the freeway as far as we could. Once we couldn't go any father, Quinn took dad Crystal David Jessie (Quinn's girl friend) and Joe to go get more oil so that we (the other truck) could make it to subway in green river. Quinn dropped off the others at subway and came and dropped off dad while he coasted to green river with the oil they picked up. When we got to subway we got something to eat while we waited for Casey (family friend) to come pick up the horse trailer with the horses, and Jesse’s dad to get a big trailer to put the truck on. So we waited for them out side and played games and listened to music. , While grandpa went and explored on the railroad tracks. Casey finally got there and hooked up the horse trailer. Quinn and Jessie stayed behind and waited for her dad. We were finally on the road again. We got home at 11:00 and went to bed and the next morning we went to school and unpacked after. Other than the truck problems we had a fun time. We enjoyed every minute of it!
