2nd Place

Heidi and Crystal are taking a class called Prostart... In case any of you were wondering its where you go and do cooking competitions. well they had a cooking competition Thursday and found out that they got 2nd place and they get to go do a different cooking competition. And maybe get to go onto State, or even Nationals.
here are some rules:
1- Create a menu consisting of a Starter, Main Dish, and a Dessert- also to do something unique so the judges aren't eating the same thing as other groups (people usually make dishes with chicken, fish, asparagus, and etc.)
2- Time limit: 1hr
3- At competitions they only give you 2 Bunson Burners, so you have to choose meals use them, because you don't have a stove to bake in. Also you have to time everything so you get your meal done in an hr and serve everything hot and prioritize what needs to go on 1st because you only have 2 burners.
4-Sanitation- Make sure every one is not doing cross contamination, and to constantly wash your hands. Also keeping your dish water clean and hot.
5- Have a colorful dish, to make it appealing.
6- 2 servings, nothing extra, you get docked if you make more than 2 servings
7- Measure everything exactly, you also get docked if you have less and you have to make an extra trip to the supply table
Those are just some of the rules of their competition

the pictures below aren't what the dishes looked like, they mixed them up and made it down to 2 servings. we just looked for the pictures that they based on. Also they decided to go Asian.

Here is their menu:

Menu
Starter:

(picture this salad with Parmesan cheese and pears thinly sliced with 3 circles of pear- used by a melon baller- and bacon(it called for panchetta). They decided to switch this recipe up to make it their own)

Pear Salad-
Hearts of Romaine lettuce, glazed with walnut vinaigrette, topped with smoky bacon, and a succulent pear. Sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

Main Dish:

Saucy Pepper Steak-
Sirloin steak along with a variety of bell peppers, thinly sliced. marinated in a tantalizing barbeque sauce.

Dessert:

Wonton Napoleons-
Whipped cream placed on top of crispy wontons glazed with honey and powdered sugar, Juicy strawberries and raspberries. Sprinkled with cinnamon and topped with a sprig of mint.

Bull Moose

Crystal, Alyssa Morrison (friend) and Heidi ridin the tube Here is a video of Crystal and Liz sledding, pause the music so you can hear her scream She did this over and over. It was funny to see her face.

For christmas break we went to the cabin up AF canyon and had a blast. We had a group of 10 people, Derek, Zayn (cousins of ours), our family, and a friend from our ward Alyssa Morrison. We got up there in one trip, yes it was by snowmobile. We also brought up our christmas puppies that cassie had on Christmas day (3) It was so fun. While we were up there Aunt Debbie, Uncle Jon, Jeff, Riley, Logan and Kallie all came up different days to visit us. It was a very fun trip. Sledding, snow fights, snowboarding, games, eat, snowmobile, ect. were what we enjoyed doing. We also had a great time enjoying the moose that came right behind our cabin. We look forward doing this again.

More pictures to come.. there were just too many

My Dog Ate My Homework...

One morning we were all getting ready to have scripture study and all of the sudden we heard, "OH NO!" from Brittany. She had left her homework (that she stayed up late to finish) on the blue chair overnight so she could wake up early and work on it. Cassie loves soft chairs and we have to make sure the couch cushions are turned up so she doesn't climb up. Well we had forgotten and that’s exactly what she did. She slept on Brittany's homework and tore up most of her important homework into tiny little shreds to make more of a comfortable bed for her. Liz made an excuse note and Brittany put each assignment into a Ziploc bag and took it to the teacher and said, "my dog did this, but its complete every piece.!" The teachers accepted her assignments with a little humor. It’s not every day that a teacher gets an excuse that their dog shredded up the homework including the proof. Mr. McAffee said "Can I put the pieces together?"
